This article aims to understand the historical learning in childhood, in Núcleo de Educação Infantil (NEI-CAp-UFRN)’ school space, an application school linked to the then Department of Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, between the years of 1988 and 2006. In this work, to analyze the narratives produced by children who were in the literacy process and attended the last year of early childhood education (Class 5) at NEI, we used the categories of historical imagination and historical learning, based on the theoretical postulates produced, above all, by Hayden White and Jörn Rüsen. The qualitative analysis of the narratives demonstrates how school culture and historical knowledge produced at NEI influenced the thinking of children who studied there. Este artigo tem por objetivo compreender a aprendizagem histórica na infância, no espaço escolar do Núcleo de Educação Infantil (NEI-CAp-UFRN), escola de aplicação vinculada ao então Departamento de Educação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, entre os anos de 1988 e 2006. Nesse trabalho, para analisarmos as narrativas produzidas pelas crianças que estavam em processo de alfabetização e frequentavam o último ano da educação infantil (Turma 5) no NEI, utilizamo-nos das categorias de imaginação histórica e aprendizagem histórica, a partir dos postulados teóricos produzidos, sobretudo, por Hayden White e Jörn Rüsen. A análise qualitativa das narrativas, demonstra como a cultura escolar e os saberes históricos produzidos no NEI, influenciavam o pensamento das crianças que lá estudavam.
