For the analysis, the Linguistic Variation Theory (LABOV, 1966, 1972) was used. The results showed that the pronoun ‘vos’ is commonly used in the Bolivian East, expressing not only familiarity, but also affection and trust. Este artigo tem como objeto de estudo o uso do ‘vos’ no Oriente boliviano, mais especificamente em Santa Cruz de la Sierra. A partir de um corpus composto por gravações de áudio de conversas de whatsapp entre pais e filhos, nosso objetivo é verificar se a forma de tratamento utilizada é compatível com a variação situacional esperada. Para a análise, baseamo-nos na Teoria da Variação Linguística (LABOV, 1966, 1972). Os resultados demonstraram que o pronome ‘vos’ tem uso corrente no Oriente boliviano, expressando não apenas familiaridade, mas também carinho e confiança.
