In this step, this article has as its general scope to verify the possibility of withdrawing from the external guard service of the prison units of greater Natal in the state of Rio Grande do Norte / RN. The research is exploratory in nature with a quantitative approach, with the application of a questionnaire, prepared by Google Forms due to the pandemic of Covid / 19, its collection took place via Whatzapp in the period from May to June 2020, with the military police who are or who have already exercised this type of function in the referred units. They showed that 60% of police officers have been working in prisons for less than a year, and yet 97% of participants agree with the removal of the PM from the prison guard service. They argue that with this there is a misuse of functions, that the state government is already taking the judicial measures for the withdrawal, and that the exit from prisons benefits society, as it gains more men in ostensive policing.

L'une des questions abordées dans le cadre de la politique de sécurité publique est celle de la gestion des prisons, qui, dans le contexte brésilien actuel, présente de grands défis. Ces défis se présentent pour toutes les politiques publiques, mais surtout pour la santé et la sécurité publique, au vu de la pandémie de Covid-19 qui sévit dans le monde. En fait, nous vivons des moments difficiles, qui demandent de nouvelles habitudes comme la distance par exemple. Celles-ci peuvent générer plusieurs conflits tant dans les espaces sociaux communs que dans ceux de privation de liberté. Dans cette étape, cet article a pour objectif général de vérifier la possibilité de se retirer du service de garde externe des unités pénitentiaires de grande Natal dans l'état de Rio Grande do Norte / RN. La recherche est de nature exploratoire avec une approche quantitative, avec l'application d'un questionnaire, préparé par Google Forms en raison de la pandémie de Covid / 19, sa collecte a eu lieu via Whatzapp dans la période de mai à juin 2020, avec les militaires les policiers qui exercent ou ont déjà exercé ce type de fonction dans les unités référées. Ils ont montré que 60% des policiers travaillent dans les prisons depuis moins d'un an, et pourtant 97% des participants sont d'accord avec le retrait du PM du service de garde pénitentiaire. Esses desafios se apresentam para todas as políticas públicas, mas especialmente para a de saúde e a de segurança pública, tendo em vista a pandemia de Covid-19, que assola o mundo. De fato, vivenciamos momentos difíceis, que estão exigindo novos hábitos como o do distanciamento, por exemplo. Esses podem gerar vários conflitos tanto nos espaços sociais comuns quanto nos de privação de liberdade. Nesse passo, este artigo tem como escopo geral verificar a possibilidade da retirada do serviço de guarda externa das unidades prisionais da grande Natal no estado do Rio Grande do Norte/RN. A pesquisa é de cunho exploratório com abordagem quantitativa, com aplicação de questionário, elaborado pelo Google Forms em virtude da pandemia de Covid/19, sua coleta se deu via Whatsapp no período de maio a junho de 2020, junto aos policiais militares que estão ou que já exerceram esse tipo de função nas referidas unidades.
