Resumo:This article aims to propose a dialogue between the novels Verão no Aquário, by Lygia Fagundes Telles, and Fazes-me Falta, by Inês Pedrosa, from the perspective of literary language. It is hypothesized that this category presents itself as wandering and powerless to clarify what it says, an observation that is not seen as problematic, only as a composition of the writers’ peculiar style. In this way, according to the critics, these novels are significant in the consecration of both, a consideration that is mainly justified by the irreverence of the language worked on them. The analysis was based on contributions aimed at the study of contemporary literature, especially Maurice Blanchot (1997; 1987) and Roland Barthes (1984; 2011). To understand the meanings made by the critics, the works of Diana Navas, Telma Ventura (2018) and Sonia Régis (1998) were consulted, among others. Thus, it was found that language, in these novels, is intertwined with the idea of death, a theme present in the both plots and that it communes with the writing of the authors.
