| Resumo: | This text aims to discuss how the signature “Gustavo Barroso” becomes autonomous through the analysis of the narrative discourse of A ronda dos séculos (1933). Based on the studies of Gérard Genette, he shows that the signature alludes to a set of discursive strategies, to Catholic religiosity and anti-Semitism. It concludes that the understanding of the intellectual Gustavo Barroso must include the meaning of this signature, present in all his books since the 1930s.
