Resumo:This work is mainly aimed at discussing the potential use of sugarcane bagasse for energy purposes. The question of the sale of the surplus of the electric energy coproduced in the sugar and alcohol plants from the burning of the bagasse as well as the question of technologies to maximize these surpluses with combined and supercritical cycles will be mentioned. Basically the work will be divided into the following topics: Introduction; Bagasse productivity data (Kg of bagasse per ton of processed cane and other data), Bagasse characterization, Energy conversion technologies such as steam and combined cycle power and lastly Energy life cycle and energy balance of ethanol.
