Firstly, a description was made of the complex and comprehensive relationships arising from the productive, marketing and operational processes carried out by the organizations. The understanding of aspects related to sustainable energy and development initiatives is envisaged. There is relevance in the subject in question because of the interdisciplinarity existing in the concept of sustainability, in which social, economic and environmental presuppositions influence the relations coming from emerging concepts for the energy sector. For the evaluation of the sustainability of organizations, a reductionist approach known as a matrix of interdisciplinarity was used, which was applied to an energy company as a case study. Finally, a proposal of a systemic approach was presented for the evaluation of the sustainability of organizations based on the unification of two different methods. Este trabalho refere-se à avaliação da sustentabilidade de organizações. Primeiramente realizou-se a descrição das complexas e abrangentes relações oriundas de processos produtivos, mercadológicos e operacionais executados pelas organizações. Vislumbra-se a compreensão de aspectos relacionados às iniciativas sustentáveis no que tange à energia e ao desenvolvimento. Há relevância no tema em questão em razão da interdisciplinaridade existente no conceito de sustentabilidade, no qual pressupostos sociais, econômicos e ambientais influenciam as relações procedentes de conceitos emergentes para o setor energético. Para a avaliação da sustentabilidade de organizações, utilizou-se uma abordagem reducionista conhecida como matriz de interdisciplinaridade, a qual foi aplicada a uma empresa do setor de energia como estudo de caso. Por fim, apresentou-se uma proposta de abordagem sistêmica para a avaliação da sustentabilidade de organizações com base na unificação de dois métodos distintos.
