The goal was to identify whether small businesses of metallurgical industrial sector, with 20 to 99 employees in the city of Santo André, in the Greater ABC Paulista region, develop internal practices of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The companies were selected based on the ABC Guide / Santo André (2013). The research adopted a quantitative method, the type survey, and adopted the questionnaire Ethos Institute for Corporate Social Responsibility, revised in 2012, in partnership with the Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae), for the internal practices of social responsibility, based on the indicators of business management. Of the 91 companies identified, 14 said they were fully focused on the CSR, agreeing to participate. The results show that the surveyed companies adopt internal social responsibility practices, only the practices that require no investment or those determined by law. This result indicates that there is need for greater understanding of what the adoption of CSR in small businesses, which allows managers to go beyond of what the adoption of CSR in basic instrumental aspects and regulatory frameworks for CSR. O objetivo foi identificar se empresas de pequeno porte do ramo industrial metalúrgico, com 20 a 99 empregados, na cidade de Santo André, na região do Grande ABC Paulista, desenvolvem práticas internas de Responsabilidade Social Empresarial (RSE). As empresas foram selecionadas com base no Guia ABC/Santo André (2013). A pesquisa adotou o método quantitativo, do tipo levantamento. Adotou ainda o questionário do Instituto Ethos de Responsabilidade Social Empresarial, revisado em 2012, em parceria com o Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio a Micro e Pequenas Empresas (SEBRAE), quanto às práticas internas de Responsabilidade Social,  com base nos indicadores da gestão empresarial. Das 91 empresas identificadas, 14 afirmaram estarem totalmente voltadas para o RSE, concordando em participar da pesquisa. Os resultados evidenciam que as empresas pesquisadas adotam práticas de responsabilidade social interna. Mas, apenas as práticas que não necessitam de investimento ou as que estão determinadas pela legislação em vigor.
