Resumo:This work aims to encourage discussions about the artistic manifestations that took place in Colônia Santa Isabel (1931-1982). The Colony was the first sanatorium built in Minas Gerais, idealized by medical knowledge, and guided by prophylactic conferences to isolate those affected by leprosy. In this article, we will discuss how asylum seekers have built artistic identities of resistance and belonging during the therapeutic segregation experience. The choice for the theme of artistic manifestations is justified by the historiographic gaps surrounding this discussion. To operate the analysis, we started from the documentary analysis and interviews belonging to the collection of the Fundação Artístico Cultural de Betim - FUNARBE in the development of the Colonial Participatory Inventory.
