This article aims to demonstrate the importance of environmental management and enforcement of environmental law principles in business. The work begins with a brief review of the concepts and principles of environmental law, emphasizing sustainable development and the duty of organizations to meet the standards set by law. The exploratory study follows a qualitative research design, considering the relationship between the practices adopted by an industry of mattresses and furniture Teresina (PI) and the principles governing the Environmental Law. Besides the literature, for data collection was used in-depth interview and non-participant observation. After data analysis, it was observed that the company adopts some study environmental management practices, combined with some of the principles of environmental law. Este artigo tem como objetivo demonstrar a importância da Gestão Ambiental como efetivação dos princípios do Direito Ambiental nas empresas. O trabalho inicia-se com uma breve revisão bibliográfica dos conceitos e princípios do Direito Ambiental, destacando o desenvolvimento sustentável e o dever das organizações de cumprir as normas estabelecidas pela legislação. O estudo de caráter exploratório segue o delineamento de uma pesquisa qualitativa, sendo consideradas as relações entre as práticas adotadas por uma indústria de colchões e móveis de Teresina (PI) e os princípios que regem o Direito Ambiental. Além da pesquisa bibliográfica, para a coleta de dados utilizou-se entrevista aprofundada e observação não participante. Após a análise de dados, observou-se que a empresa em estudo adota algumas práticas de gestão ambiental, aliadas a alguns dos princípios do Direito Ambiental.
