The methodology consists of the literature review that covers market research and rural organizations. The reflection from the study indicates that the market research becomes important for rural organizations by enabling knowledge of products, competitors and consumers, facilitating the achievement of organizational goals and increased market share by virtue of being a more feasible satisfying consumer needs. A pesquisa objetiva refletir sobre a importância da pesquisa de mercado para organização rural. A metodologia consiste na revisão da literatura que aborda pesquisa de mercado e organizações rurais. A partir da reflexão o estudo aponta que a pesquisa de mercado torna-se importante para as organizações rurais por possibilitar o conhecimento de produtos, concorrentes e consumidores, facilitando o alcance das metas organizacionais e maior participação no mercado em virtude de ser possível um atendimento mais satisfatório das necessidades dos consumidores.
