The text begins by justifying the importance of decolonizing the curriculum in order to destabilize the educational paradigm imposed today. Then, we discuss why the increase of the indigenous community in the institution and how the conquest of this space serves as inspiration for the elaboration of liberating and counter-hegemonic pedagogical practices. O artigo busca valorizar a prática pedagógica existente no Colégio Pedro II, instituição pública federal de educação localizado na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O texto se inicia justificando a importância de descolonizar o currículo, de forma a desestabilizar o paradigma educacional imposto hoje. Em seguida, discute-se o porquê do aumento da comunidade indígena na instituição e como a conquista deste espaço serve de inspiração para a elaboração de práticas pedagógicas libertadoras e contra-hegemônicas.
