Resumo:This article analyzes how the “scientific” character is represented in the novel Solar (2010), by Ian McEwan, examining the elements that indicate the presence of possibles stereotypes. To achieve this objective, the text was divided into three parts: first, the main aspects of the work are presented, highlighting the “adventures” of the protagonist; second, the concepts of “character” and “type” are examined, and the relationships that exist between them and how the physicist was represented in the novel; and, the third, we proceed to the identification and analysis of some of the stereotypes related to the profession of scientist.
