Resumo:Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of syphilis cases in a Rio Grande do Norte region. Methods: A descriptive-documental study using data reported between 2013 and 2017. Results: The findings were analyzed according to four groups; Completeness and consistency: 59.6% had a blank space at the "neighborhood" information, 21% the variable "pregnant" was inconsistent; Acquired, gestational and congenital syphilis: 91% of notifications came from Primary Health Care units, 59.6% occurred in urban areas; Acquired and gestational syphilis: 13 as minimum age and 82 years as maximum, schooling had 27.4% as "ignored"; Gestational syphilis: 40% of the diagnosis occurred in the first trimester, 13.3% of the partners were treated. Conclusion: The incidence increased in the study years  following the national panorama.
