Resumo:Based in a variation-grammaticalization interface perspective, I address the variable use of verbs IR (GO) and PEGAR (TAKE) in periphrasis V1 E (AND) V2. I made use of speech data extracted from Discourse & Grammar corpora from Natal (RN) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ), and from VARSUL corpus from Florianópolis. I aim to analyze genre as a restrictive factor in the selection between IR and PEGAR to perform V1 role in the periphrasis V1 E (AND) V2. The results show that IR is favored in instructive reports and opinion reports and PEGAR is favored in personal experience narratives and vicarious narratives. It is probably that IR and PEGAR have begun their change process in narrative genres, in which the periphrasis V1 E (AND) V2 is more frequent is different languages. Therefore, the fact that IR is favored in non narrative genres can be comprehended as an indication that it is more advanced in the grammaticalization process than PEGAR.
