| Resumo: | The present study evaluates the theoretical basis of social anomie theory, by reviewing the major works of its key representatives: Émile Durkheim and Robert Merton. The objective is to rediscuss their fundamental concepts, confronting them with contemporary sociological and criminological studies linked to the Brazilian context. Thus, using the literature review as a method, it was possible to draw a parallel between the original ideas and their transformations over time, as well as the scope of their current and their influences on criminology. Therefore, it was concluded by the actuality of the sociological concepts that make up the theory of social anomie, as well as its relevance to today's criminal study. |
