Resumo:This paper analyzes the experiences of the lives of immigrant and resident African women in the city of Fortaleza-CE, Brazil, in a context of transnational migration. Women present striking discourses regarding race, religion, gender, sexuality, and ethnicity. From the ethnographic observation, open interviews and informal conversations, I compared the migratory experiences of three women of Cape Verdean and Bissau-Guinean nationality, checking their distinct places as African, Black and foreign, intersecting with various social markers. After the displacement of Africa to Brazil, young women began to present different personalities from those they assumed in their countries of origin, resignify identifications of race, sexual orientation, religion and work.
