However, the current political scene has been marked by speeches detailing the human sciences and by the overvaluation of the exact sciences, natural sciences and languages. In the face of this clash, this article aims to highlight the potentiality of this discipline, in the official discourses directed at the (in)visibility of Philosophy, as a provocative exercise of thought and therefore essential for the (re)construction of a just society, noble, free and ethical. With a qualitative approach, we dialogued with philosophers and education theorists, who made it possible to unveil the think about the main issues that permeate the educational political context experienced by Philosophy in Brazil today. A educação brasileira, em todos os seus níveis, segundo a Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional, tem como finalidade o desenvolvimento racional do intelecto, a formação de valores, o pensamento crítico, autônomo e reflexivo, cumprindo à Filosofia essa função. No entanto, o cenário político atual tem sido marcado por discursos de pormenorização das ciências humanas e pela supervalorização das áreas de ciências exatas, ciências naturais e linguagens. Diante desse embate, este artigo tem como objetivo evidenciar, nos discursos oficiais direcionados à (in)visibilidade da Filosofia, a potencialidade dessa disciplina, enquanto provocadora do exercício do pensamento e, portanto, essencial para a (re)construção de uma sociedade justa, nobre, livre e ética. Com uma abordagem qualitativa, dialogamos com filósofos e teóricos da educação, que possibilitaram desvelar as principais questões que permeiam o contexto político educacional vivenciado pela Filosofia no Brasil atual.
