It also discusses how the construction of a neoliberal state intervenes in urban policies and their consequences in the organization, planning and management of cities. It seeks to analyze in detail the social practices of the region called Baixo Centro in Belo Horizonte / MG. O presente artigo2 discute como configura-se a dinâmica de ocupação do espaço público e a diversidade de movimentos de ocupação urbana de algumas grandes cidades frente ao crescimento do pensamento neoliberal sobre o processo de organização da economia, a relação da economia com o Estado, a relação do Estado com a economia e a sociedade. Discute ainda como a edificação de um Estado neoliberal intervém nas políticas urbanas e suas consequências na organização, planejamento e gestão das cidades. Busca analisar em destaque as práticas sociais da região chamada Baixo Centro em Belo Horizonte / MG.
