The gender andsexuality studies together with the field work production and educationare taken as a theoretical basis. Methodologically, the contribution ofqualitative and documentary research techniques (HELDER, 2006)and the indiciario method (GINZBURG, 1989) are used. The study’sexpectation is to contribute to the visibility of the gender identity andO nome social como fator de inclusão de 145estudantes transexuais e travestis na EPTsexual orientation related problems at IFES and to promote the creationof nuclei of Gender and Sexuality studies in the campi of the Institute. O texto problematiza os trâmites da proposta de regulamentação dodireito ao uso do nome social pelas pessoas transexuais pelo ConselhoSuperior do Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo (IFES) com vistas àgarantia do direito à educação e à promoção de um ambiente acolhedore inclusivo para a população LGBTQI (Lésbicas, Gays, Bissexuais,Travestis, Transexuais, Queer e Intersexuais). Os Estudos de Gêneroe Sexualidade na interface com a produção do campo do Trabalho eEducação são tomados como base teórica. Metodologicamente, valemo-nos dos aportes da pesquisa qualitativa e das técnicas da pesquisadocumental (HELDER, 2006) e do método indiciário (GINSBURG,1989). Espera-se contribuir para a visibilidade da problemática relativaà identidade de gênero e à orientação sexual dos/as estudantesdo IFES e no fomento à criação de núcleos de estudos de Gênero e deSexualidade nos campi do Instituto.
