Thus, from the participant observation in the daily market and the interviews with merchants and regulars, we observe that the sense of belonging, both in traders and in regulars, is related to commensality and the food marketed in these places. In this sense, we perceive that the Boa Vista Market presents itself as a potent space for the expression of identity and tradition in Pernambuco's food culture. El texto pretende discutir la importancia del Mercado Boa Vista en la ciudad de Recife / PE para la cultura gastronómica de Pernambuco. Así, desde la observación participante en el mercado diario y las entrevistas con comerciantes y clientes habituales, observamos que el sentimiento de pertenencia, tanto en los comerciantes como en los clientes habituales, está relacionado con la comensalidad y los alimentos comercializados en estos lugares. En este sentido, nos damos cuenta de que el Mercado de Boa Vista se presenta como un potente espacio para la expresión de la identidad y la tradición en la cultura gastronómica de Pernambuco. O texto tem como objetivo discutir sobre a importância do Mercado da Boa Vista, na cidade do Recife/PE para a cultura alimentar pernambucana. Deste modo a partir da observação participante no cotidiano do mercado e das entrevistas com comerciantes e frequentadores, observamos que a sensação de pertencimento, tanto em comerciantes quanto em frequentadores, está relacionada a comensalidade e as comidas comercializadas nesses lugares. Nesse sentido, percebemos que o Mercado da Boa Vista se apresenta como um potente espaço de expressão da identidade e tradição na cultura alimentar pernambucana.
