description With this article, we aim to analyze how certain suggestions by an author considered as a classic of sociological theory inspired the work and the thinking of the German sociologist Norbert Elias (1897-1990). In this case, we will focus on the ideas and referential of Max Weber (1864-1920). In this way, it will be described how the contribution of the classic was taken up by the contemporary author in dimensions such as union and / or dialogue between different disciplines, the compatibilization between explain and understand, and the approach of long term processes. Thus, the argument that runs through this writing is that the contribution of the classic is central to the task of understanding the course of ideas of the contemporary author, there being a creative, though not always evident, articulation of the theorist's suggestions at the heart of the renewing sociology practiced by Elias. To fuel this discussion, we will throw some reflections, mostly inclined to argue about how the sociology of sociology classics as well as their reception - as well as assisting in the more sophisticated understanding of punctual intellectual contexts, or of wider social processes - , may be strategic to better recover the heuristic value of the contributions of the classics, and even of contemporary sociologists. Avec cet article, nous cherchons à analyser comment certaines suggestions d’un auteur considéré comme un classique de la théorie sociologique ont inspiré le travail et la réflexion du sociologue allemand Norbert Elias (1897-1990). Dans ce cas, nous nous concentrerons sur les idées et le référentiel de Max Weber (1864-1920). De cette manière, on décrira comment l'auteur contemporain a repris la contribution du classique dans des dimensions telles que l'union et / ou le dialogue entre différentes disciplines, la compatibilité entre expliquer et comprendre et l'approche de processus à long terme. Ainsi, l'argument qui se dégage de cette écriture est que l'apport du classique est au centre de la tâche de comprendre le cours des idées de l'auteur contemporain, il existe une articulation créative, mais pas toujours évidente, des suggestions du théoricien au cœur de la sociologie renouvelée pratiquée par Elias. Pour alimenter cette discussion, nous lancerons quelques réflexions, principalement enclines à discuter de la manière dont la sociologie des sociologues classiques et leur réception - tout en aidant à la compréhension plus sophistiquée des contextes intellectuels ponctuels, ou des processus sociaux plus larges - peut être stratégique pour mieux récupérer la valeur heuristique des contributions des classiques, voire des sociologues contemporains. Sociologie de la connaissance.   Com este artigo, objetivamos analisar como certas sugestões de um autor considerado como um clássico da teoria sociológica inspiraram a obra e o pensamento do sociólogo alemão Norbert Elias (1897-1990). No caso, nos concentraremos nas ideias e no referencial de Max Weber (1864-1920). Dessa forma, será descrito como a contribuição do clássico foi retomada pelo autor contemporâneo em dimensões como a união e/ou diálogo entre distintas disciplinas, a compatibilização entre explicar e compreender, e a abordagem de processos de longa duração. Assim, o argumento que perpassa este escrito é que a contribuição do clássico é central para a tarefa de se entender o percurso das ideias do autor contemporâneo, havendo uma articulação criativa, embora nem sempre evidente, das sugestões daquele teórico no cerne da sociologia renovadora praticada por Elias. Para azeitar essa discussão, lançaremos algumas reflexões, em sua maior parte inclinadas a argumentar sobre como a sociologia dos clássicos da sociologia, assim como da sua recepção – além de auxiliarem na compreensão mais sofisticada de contextos intelectuais pontuais, ou de processos sociais mais amplos –, podem ser estratégicas para se melhor recuperar o valor heurístico das contribuições dos clássicos, e até mesmo dos sociólogos contemporâneos.
