Thus, the text is not seen as a finished object, but the meaning of it is complete in the reader, resulting from communicative operations and sociocommunication linguistic processes. As a corpus for the application of the theory under study, we chose the short story "The Weaver Girl", by Marina Colasanti, which configures a text of great significant density, allowing the reader to contribute to the texture of the text. In the construction of this article, qualitative bibliographical research was carried out, considering the contributions of theoretical sources that base the search for answers on the topic addressed. Therefore, the way in which the author constructs the text presupposes the participation of the reader in the construction of meaning. Marina Colasanti's tale gains meaning and significance, not only as a narrative aimed at a child-youth audience, but also for any active, participatory reader, capable of reaching implicit information present in the text, completing the meaning of the text, as a co-author of a unfinished object. Thus, it is worth emphasizing that the heart of the production of meanings is in the relation between the said and the understood. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo refletir sobre a leitura como atividade de construção de sentido. Sendo assim, o texto não é visto como um objeto acabado, mas o sentido dele se completo no leitor, resultante de operações comunicativas e processos linguísticos sociocomunicativos. Como corpus para aplicação da teoria em estudo, escolheu-se o conto “A moça tecelã”, de Marina Colasanti que configura um texto de grande densidade significativa, permitindo o leitor contribuir para a tessitura do texto. Na construção deste artigo, realizou-se pesquisa bibliográfica de base qualitativa, considerando as contribuições de fontes teóricas que embasam a busca de respostas sobre o tema abordado. Portanto, a maneira na qual o autor constrói o texto pressupõe a participação do leitor na construção de sentido. O conto de Marina Colasanti ganha sentido e significação, não apenas como narrativa direcionada para um público infanto-juvenil, mas também para qualquer leitor ativo, participativo, capaz de alcançar informações implícitas presentes no texto, completando o sentido do texto, como coautor de um objeto inacabado. Assim, vale destacar que o cerne da produção de sentidos está na relação entre o dito e o compreendido.
