By means of a quali-quantitative approach, we analyze a corpus composed by two chronicles: “‘Quem não deve não teme’ é uma frase fascistóide”, by Reinaldo Azevedo, and “Quem não deve, não Temer”, by Agamenon Mendes Pedreira. As a theoretical grounding, we follow the teachings of the French Discourse Analysis, especially those advanced by Maingueneau (1997; 2004; 2008); Charaudeau and Maingueneau (2016); and Ducrot (1987). Among the results achieved by means of our research, we point out the distinction of the interdiscursive relations permeating both the proverbial utterance and the détournement analyzed as well as the discernment of the discursive movements and the argumentative strategies connected to them. Neste artigo, desenvolvemos pesquisa e reflexão quanto ao emprego do détournement “Quem não deve, não teme(r)”, objetivando discernir as formações discursivas em que se inserem seus locutores e enunciadores. Adotando uma metodologia qualiquantitativa, debruçamo-nos sobre um corpus constituído por duas crônicas: “‘Quem não deve não teme’ é uma frase fascistóide”, de Reinaldo Azevedo, e “Quem não deve, não Temer”, de Agamenon Mendes Pedreira. Como fundamentação teórica, seguimos referenciais da Análise de Discurso de linha francesa, dando especial destaque a autores como Maingueneau (1997; 2004; 2008); Charaudeau e Maingueneau (2016); e Ducrot (1987). Dentre os resultados obtidos por meio de nossa pesquisa, apontamos a distinção das relações interdiscursivas que permeiam tanto o enunciado proverbial quanto o détournement analisados, bem como o discernimento de movimentos discursivos e de estratégias argumentativas a estes atrelados.
