As exposed twenty years ago, urbanism could not keep pace with the development, rendering itself useless. By looking at a new scale, I intend to reshape the way cities are formed, with a rethinking of the scale of the block as the unit of planning. By following that the city block is an informal hybrid, where different typological conditions are juxtaposed, new modes of cohabitation are possible, and through a critical historical analysis of the block as a field, the urban morphology can respond to the contemporary pressures. This thesis investigates the possibilities of maintaining the city vibrant, based on the concepts of density and congestion through the lenses of typology. Starting from the idea that hyper density is desirable, but understanding that suburbs have essential qualities - social, environmental and economical - derived from their architecture, this thesis suggests a method to superimpose hyper dense and suburban typologies onto the city creating a viable typological remix, where the city is built upon a field of formative qualities desired both in the suburbs as well as the city, without losing its urban values - to hyper-suburbanize the city.
